Clear and tinted mirrors, polished and beveled edges, and clip, adhesive, channel and standoff mounting compared.
A mirror is a sheet of glass with a reflective backing, and the choices around it change the look. Clear mirror is the standard. Bronze and gray tints add warmth or a moody tone. Edges can be seamed, flat polished, beveled or shaped, and thickness varies with size. Mirrors for bathrooms and humid spaces benefit from sealed edges, because moisture can attack the backing over time.
Mounting is just as important. Clips hold a mirror at the corners or edges, adhesive bonds it to a wall, J-channels hold the bottom edge and standoffs float a mirror off the wall for a designed look. Large mirrors are heavy and need anchors suited to the wall. We pick the method to suit the wall surface, the weight and the room, and we tell you what repair a wall might need if an old mirror was glued on.
