Replace foggy, failed double-pane glass units and restore clear views and better comfort.
Double-pane windows are built as sealed units with a gap between two sheets of glass. When the seal fails, moisture gets in and the glass looks foggy or streaked, and the insulating gas can escape. You cannot clean this away, because the moisture is trapped between the panes. Replacing the sealed glass unit restores a clear view and usually brings the window back to its original comfort, without the cost of replacing the whole window.
We measure the sealed unit, check the thickness, the spacer type and any special features such as low-E coatings, argon fill, tempering or decorative grids. We order a new unit to match, remove the old one and install the new unit into your existing frame with new glazing. We test the fit and clean the glass and the frame.
We check the overall thickness, the spacer, the coatings and whether the glass is tempered. A good match helps comfort and appearance.
You can often keep the same specification or upgrade to low-E coatings, gas fill or laminated glass for sound and safety.
The frame must be sound. If a sash is rotted or warped, we tell you before we replace the glass.
The new unit is set with fresh glazing or gaskets so it seals properly and stays dry.
